Master of Physical Education and Sports (MPES)

The Master of Physical Education and Sports (MPES) programme is designed in accordance with the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework adopted by Mahatma Gandhi University. The programme aims to develop competent professionals, educators, researchers, coaches, and sports administrators equipped with advanced knowledge, practical skills, leadership qualities, and ethical values to contribute effectively to the field of Physical Education and Sports Sciences.


Programme Outcomes (POs)

Upon successful completion of the MPES programme, graduates are expected to attain the following Programme Outcomes (POs) prescribed by Mahatma Gandhi University.

PO 1 – Critical Thinking and Analytical Reasoning

Capability to analyse, evaluate and interpret evidence, arguments, claims and beliefs based on empirical evidence; formulate logical arguments; critically evaluate practices, policies and theories; and develop reflective thinking for solving complex problems and contributing meaningfully to society.


PO 2 – Scientific Reasoning and Problem Solving

Ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data, apply scientific reasoning, solve practical problems, conduct research, and apply knowledge to real-life situations.


PO 3 – Multidisciplinary / Interdisciplinary / Transdisciplinary Approach

Ability to integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines, collaborate across academic domains, and develop rational and innovative solutions to contemporary challenges.


PO 4 – Communication Skills

Ability to communicate ideas effectively through oral, written, and digital means; present information clearly and confidently; and interact professionally in academic and organizational settings.


PO 5 – Leadership Skills

Ability to lead individuals and teams effectively by setting goals, motivating others, making informed decisions, and managing resources efficiently in diverse professional environments.


PO 6 – Social Consciousness and Responsibility

Ability to understand societal needs, appreciate social responsibility, promote healthy lifestyles, and contribute towards inclusive and sustainable community development.


PO 7 – Equity, Inclusiveness and Sustainability

Ability to appreciate diversity, promote equity and inclusiveness, uphold democratic values, and contribute towards sustainable development while respecting social and cultural differences.


PO 8 – Moral and Ethical Reasoning

Ability to uphold professional ethics, demonstrate integrity, make ethical decisions, and practice responsible behaviour in academic, research, and professional contexts.

Ability to collaborate effectively with educational institutions, professional organizations, research bodies, industry partners, and international academic communities.
